Tuition at Hawthorn Hearth covers exactly what it sounds like: a real home, kept warm and stocked and running, so that children can arrive and simply be children. Mortgage, utilities, supplies — these are the bones of what makes this place possible. Tuition barely covers that. What you see here was built and is sustained by a community of people who give their time, their skills, and their care freely. Miss Victoria's is currently the only person compensated monetarily for her time, energy, education and skills. If we are being honest, her compensation comes last and looks more like love than livelihood. Miss Christel does not take any money for herself, all the money from SLL goes to pay part of the house/facility bills, and supports the budget that the kids use to build, learn and grow. We believe in being transparent about finances, because this place belongs to all of us.
